Reflection on Interactive Whiteboard

An interactive whiteboard (IWB), is a large interactive display that connects to a computer and projector. A projector projects the computer's desktop onto the board's surface where users control the computer using a pen, finger, stylus, or other device. The board is typically mounted to a wall or floor stand.They are used in a variety of settings, including classrooms at all levels of education, in corporate board rooms and work groups, in training rooms for professional sports coaching, in broadcasting studios and others.Interactive whiteboards are used in many schools as replacements for traditional whiteboards or flipcharts.

Here, i want to reflect on the usage of this Interactive whiteboard(IWB) in my ICT class. From my very first impression,this IWB is very interesting in our learning process. Teacher can touch the screen and continue with the learning process without have to go back and forth to reach the laptop. Furthermore, It contain many application that helps in giving enhancement for student including flash and video which able to show simulation or modelling .IWB have the interactive application used to give short question and quizes in class. It is also useful when teacher are explaning something about the concept as teacher able to move the arrow, control the information that are going to slide out and try to make students interact with the board.This will eventually make student attracted to the lessons and paying their attention to the class. It definitely create a more lively learning environment.

Im personally think that this IWB will be used widely in schools in Malaysia few years ahead.Therefore,it is a bonus for us to be introduced to this tools in ICT’s class.The IWB in our ICT’s lab is not very sensitive and show decreased in its effectiveness might because it has long been used and has not been service.Furthermore,its just cost RM20 000 compared to those in DR Sophia’s room which costs nearly RM40 000.Therefore, we have to calibrate it repeatedly.This kind of problem might occur in school and teacher need to be intelligent in dealing with this matter.
